Yesterday prior to attending my home church for worship services, I was watching the news and saw that there was a shooting at Youth With A Mission (YWAM), and to my shock, later in the day there was another set of murders at Ted Haggard's former church, New Life Church in Colorado Springs. A few years ago some of my friends were missionaries in the Philippines when the tragedy of the Burnham's took place. Today, after many years, there is news that 14 of the members of the Islamic militant group Abu Sayyaf have been sentenced to life in prison. Mission Network News has more on the remarkable story.

This morning as I was going through the news I came across this "opinion" letter sent to The Daily News Record, and I thought it would be interesting for you to see, because apparently some Christians are not helping. Here's the letter in its entirety.

Ministrywatch.com has recently announced that The Voice of the Martyrs will be featured on their 2007 “Shining Light ‘Top 30’ Exemplary Ministries” list. This makes the third consecutive year that VOM has been featured on this list, which is an honor Ministry Watch awards to few organizations.

The following news item is interesting especially in light of the recent Muslim extremist terrorist like activity towards Gillian Gibbons and the teddy bear incident. In that case, she allows children to name a teddy bear Muhammad and the result is that her life is threatened, she's thrown in jail, and then thankfully pardoned and released.
