Fazeelat Bibi’s face lights up when she talks about sharing the gospel with women and teaching them to read it on their own.

At 5:00 A.M. they heard pounding on the door and immediately knew it was a police raid. Sabina’s husband was already in prison, and she worried about the fate of her young son if she were taken away, too. So when the Romanian police burst in early that morning, shouting and intimidating her houseguests, Sabina quietly prayed and committed herself and her family to God’s care.

The Voice of the Martyrs’ statement of faith and main purposes define the bedrock beliefs, mission and purpose of our organization. Our newsletter and web articles are written and presented to inform Christians in the free world of the persecution and suffering of the church in more than 50 countries around the world. The mission VOM inherited from our founders, Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, is to be A VOICE for these suffering saints. In our efforts to educate the church in North America about Christian persecution, researching the history of the church and of persecution plays an important part.

Last Sunday, November 14, was the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. VOM's Todd Nettleton was asked by his pastor to share for five minutes in his church's morning services about a recent trip he took to meet with persecuted Christians in India. Here’s what he shared:

CHINA -- House Church Raided -- China Aid AssociationOn Nov. 12, a house church in Anhui was raided by officers from the Bozhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Bozhou Bureau of Religion, according to China Aid Association. Officials detained more than 10 believers and held five until that afternoon. The government officials also confiscated items belonging to the church. Pray that members of this house church will continue to stand for Christ despite government raids. Praise God for the courage and faithfulness of believers in China.1 Thessalonians 3:6-8ISRAEL -- Church Building Burned -- Compass Direct NewsOn Oct. 29, an unknown arsonist set fire to a church in an ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhood, according to Compass Direct News. Compass reported that the arsonist broke into the Jerusalem Alliance Church Ministry Center through a basement window and set fire to the bottom floors. "Smoke and the noise of the blaze awakened 10 volunteer workers who were sleeping at the church's overnight facilities," Compass reported. "The volunteers, who were visiting Israel from the United States and Denmark, went to a nearby hospital and were treated for smoke inhalation." The volunteers were released from the hospital several hours later. The church building sustained approximately $85,000 in damage. Praise God no one was seriously injured in the fire. Pray that the church will continue to proclaim Christ and will not fear meeting and working in this neighborhood.
