Once again the Mission News Network delivers a piece of great news - and this fits perfect with the sermon I heard yesterday about the need for more Christians to pray. The visiting pastor I heard said yesterday that only 1% of Christians have a daily set time to pray. One percent - which is not surprising considering the decay in the church, at least in America. So reading this story really encouraged my heart.

The website AsiaNews has a good news story today (assuming you think getting bad guys is good news) concerning the arrest of a Muslim cleric who murdered a young Catholic by the name of Javed Anjum . They were trying to force Javed to renounce his faith in Christ, and killed him when he didn't.

The online news site News Max cites a story today about how the nation of China has made Parade Magazine's list of the top ten on their world's dictators list - in part because of China's relentless persecution of Christians.

Tomorrow the missionary film End of the Spear opens nationwide and in preparation for the opening of the movie the Mission News Network has done an interview with Steve Saint who was one of the sons of the missionary who was murdered.

I remember sharing a few weeks ago that my husband distributes bibles with The Gideon's International and I can't imagine him being beaten for simply handing out the bible. Yet, we have another story that was in this weeks VOM's Canada's prayer alert about a pastor who was beaten for doing just that.

Reading the prayer alerts that I receive from VOM every week is one of the highlights of my week. I know, sounds crazy doesn't it...but it's not because reading about the persecution of saints is a constant reminder to me to remember those in chains and also to be thankful for my own religious freedom here in America.
