I've been thinking all day about what I have wanted to share with you today and I finally decided that I want to share with you my discouragement about how few Christians in America, that I know of, really pray.

"As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him; He is excellent in power, In judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress. Therefore men fear Him; He shows no partiality to any who are wise of heart.”"(Job 37: 23-24)

This week VOM is asking that we all remember those in prayer who are being persecuted in Laos. The following was taken from the weekly VOM prayer email.

This week I was privileged to hear from two Christians serving the Lord in the midst of persecution in Turkey and India. Their passion for Jesus Christ and the lost was contagious. While they were sharing, I asked myself how I would respond if placed in their situations. These precious leaders of the church in India and Turkey have endured persecution and remain steadfast in their faith. “I was raised and taught in a Muslim family. Even though I questioned the teachings of Islam, I had no other option. One day, I received a New Testament and started reading the Gospel of John. I soon realized that in the Middle East we had everything else, but the love of God. I discovered Jesus and after my conversion I went to my grandfather and told him I was now a Christian. Immediately, I lost everything,” the brother from Turkey said.

It's been a few weeks since I have highlighted some of the prayer requests that VOM sends out every week, so today I wanted to do that again. The following prayer requests from VOM USA for this week. Please join me and the rest of the staff at VOM in praying for these precious people.

As a result of all the Christian persecution in North Korea many persecution organizations have come together to proclaim 2007 a year of prayer for North Korea. I think this is a wonderful idea. Even yesterday, as I was praying for my day and lifting up the nation of North Korea in prayer - even before I knew about this effort - I felt sad as I thought of Diane Sawyer's reporting from North Korea at the end of 2006.
