Pakistan has been pummeled by its worst monsoon floods in 102 years. And the rains continue in Northwestern Pakistan, adding to the existing problems. More than 20 million Pakistanis have been affected by the flooding that began three weeks ago, and 7 million have lost their homes. Tens of thousands of villages are under water, roads and bridges have been washed away and diseases are spreading throughout the flood area. According to news reports, many of the flood victims have not yet received any sort of relief.

Over the weekend I was following this horrific story that many have been talking about in the last 48 hours. If you haven't heard, over the weekend it was reported that ten Christian aid workers working with International Assistance Mission, were brutally killed by the Taliban.

Ramadan is coming up next week and so I wanted to encourage you today to set aside some time for the next month because Muslims will be observing their holy month with fasting because it is one of the five pillars of Islam. During the month of Ramadan Muslims fast during the day and they do it because they believe it will help them to burn away their sins.

Mission Network News is reporting on a story from the Gospel for Asia about a church that told to remove the cross and the name of the church because "anti-Christian" extremists filed a complaint.

Imagine with me for a second if your city government had decided to shut down your church and board it up so that you could not use it. What do you think your pastor would do? Would he just give up and say, "Okay folks, we're not having church any more" or do you think that he would call to keep having church except outside of the boarded up building? - I find this a thoughtful question to think about.
