What's in a Name?
Do you know what your name means? Years ago I really didn't like my name much because I had no idea what it meant. My mother told me she named me after a character on the Dick Van Dyke show in 1968, because the guy was funny. However, that didn't matter to me, until I found out what Stacy meant.
My name was taken from the word Anastasia which was made popular by a 4th-century Dalmatian saint who was martyred during the persecutions of the Roman emperor Diocletian. The Latin form of the Greek name Anastasios which meant "resurrection" from Greek anastasis (composed of the elements ana "up" and stasis "standing"). This was the name of numerous early saints and martyrs. In other words, my name Stacy can be translated, "One Who Shall Rise Again!" because it means literally of the resurrection!
Well, you need to know that Voice of the Martyrs has a great ministry called Link International which can be found at http://www.linkingup.com . The purpose of Link International is to encourage parents to get their children involved in ministry to the persecuted church.
This month they are focusing on the country of Bangladesh and they have a wonderful story of two children named Praise and Promise. If you'd like to find out why they were named those beautiful names and also sign up to get involved with Link International, click on over. You won't be disappointed.
