See Why Attending A VOM Conference Can Change Your Life
If you've ever wondered what it's like to attend a VOM conference, then I want you to know that not only are they extremely impacting, but they are life-changing, if you have a tender heart and realize the impact of the suffering church and how you are connected.
Today I want to direct you to two wonderful blog posts, written by someone who recently attended a VOM conference, so you can see how she and her son were impacted. These two blog posts are very encouraging.
The blog is called No Greater Love and the first post you can read is called Voice of the Martyrs pt 1. and gives a great backdrop to what was going through the mind of the writer and then reveals the excitement and the questions that they came away with. Here's a short part of it:
I will say hands down, that I have NEVER EVER been to a seminar that was so impactful in all my life. (I guess impactful isn’t a word…but let’s pretend it is.)
I didn’t want to leave.
This conference deserves a series of posts…
There is just way too much I want to process about this day….and there is no way one post can do it.
I don’t even know how many I will do….I have pages and pages and pages of notes.
And I know that for myself, I need to write it all out, so I can try and process it.
It was just so challenging.
Here is just a tidbit of what we were challenged with today:
Do you know that over 200 million Christians face intense persecution today? There is more persecution in the 20th century, then in all other centuries combined.
Do you pray for the persecuted church?
Do you know that you can experience the joy of the Lord even in persecution?
Even though persecution is so difficult, and so sad, we should not be discouraged, because, remember we win in the end….The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. Psalm 33:10-11
If you're like me then you smiled when you read the word impactful, because it actually is a real word and the word really does describe what a VOM conference is like. I felt the same way when I went to my first VOM conference. Even more impactful though, is coming away with information that I knew I could use and would make a difference. Prayer really is impactful!
In part 2, our friend writes about the persecuted church and the "costly call". Click here to read part two. Here's a snip for you:
Even when we look at the apostles, we know that history tells us almost all of them were killed for their faith.
BUT, every speaker reminded us that the persecuted church does have a joy that is so otherworldly. It is not a suffering with no purpose….it is a suffering that spreads the gospel…and it is a suffering that brings them into such communion with the Lord, for they are suffering on His behalf, out of their deep love for Him, and that accelerates maturity in the Lord.
Another common theme was the incredible amount of forgiveness that those who are persecuted have. And this forgiveness is a powerful and mighty testimony to their persecutors, that there really is a God who loves them.
The saying he had was:
“Blame brings bitterness, but forgiveness brings freedom.”
That is so true, isn’t it?
