Really Living for Christ
I have a confession to make - I'm really lousy at loving my enemies, and being patient when I am wronged. I'm sure I'm not alone in this, since as an American we have so much and take so much for granted. Most frequently, we take our religious freedom for granted. We forget the power in our faith. We often forget the reason for needing a Savior. But the good news is that despite that, Jesus continues to love us and spur us on to what is right.
Everyday I am totally inspired by Christians in other countries. Today I was reading on the VOM website Link International and I noted this story about Christians in India.
You have to check this out. These students in India took the following pledge for their faith in Christ.
Two years ago, about 1,500 Bible college graduates met together in Rajasthan, India. The Bible students knew the cost of following Jesus in their state and country. Reports say that radical Hindus in the state of Rajasthan have said they want to get rid of all the Christians in the area. The students stood side by side and made a pledge. Here is part of the pledge:
• I take a stand to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my hands to serve all mankind.
• I take a stand to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my feet to spread the gospel to all the ends of the earth, no matter the cost.
• I take a stand to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my lips by proclaiming the Good News to all who hear.
• I surrender this body on earth to the perfect will of Jesus, and should my blood be spilled, may it bring forth a mighty harvest of souls. As a soldier of the cross, I stand with the apostle Paul in stating that, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”The students kept their pledge. Former students from the college have started 11,113 new churches in India! Angels in heaven rejoice about all the new people coming to Christ (Luke 15:10), but many radical Hindus do not rejoice. In February 2005, a Hindu mob attacked 280 students who were on their way to graduation at the college. The students were beaten, robbed, and forced to return home. They continue to proclaim Christ and to bring others to Him.
