Persecution Blog Round Up: Martyrs Edition
Earlier this week I asked all of my persecution bloggers to consider writing their posts for this carnival on a martyr of the past. Most of the bloggers took my suggestion and I hope what you read in the great entries below really blesses your heart. So ... on with the show!
We begin our carnival with an entry from Supply the Word who wrote Keeping the Unknown Martyrs in Our Prayers. Michael writes, "We should continue to pray for those persecuted by name but we should also pray for the many that we do not know by name. The ones that are only known to God and His angels above. Putting it before God in the name of His Son Jesus Christ." Michael also sent in an entry last week when we didn't do a wrap up, but I wanted you to see that one also. The title of that post is Iraqi Christians In Trouble.
Randy writes another post about martyrdom at his blog Way of a Pilgrim. His post is called Antipas and True Worship Randy writes, "A comparison of the True Worship expressed by Antipas with that of the North Korean Church and how we American Christians often fall short." And there is a very cool video with this entry.
Michael Black writes our next entry titled Martyr: Julius Palmer and says that this is the story of Julius Palmer and the persecution he faced from his friends, family and countrymen.
Cindy who writes at Inspiration Korner submitted a post called Martyred for Faith about a 17 year old girl who was shot to death because she said that she believed in God in 1999.
Next we have an entry from The Pen of the Wayfarer who writes about The Martyrdom of Polycarp."Although it is often difficult to read about the death of a martyr. I felt inspired and strenghtened when I read the the martyrdom of Polycarp, a disciple of the Apostle John. Its worth a read. May God be glorifed in the death of His saints!"
The remainer of the entries for this weeks wrap up are about Christian persecution and not specifically martyrs. Let us continue...
Mick from Romans 15:4 considers the upcoming Olympics. His post The 2008 Beijing China Olympics asks the question, "Imprisonment, confessions through torture, and secret executions, is this really the place we need to host the Olympics?'
Bibles at the China Border submitted a very personal post regarding coming to faith in Christ and being called to work in missions. Even though this is not directly related to persecution, I wanted to add this because Chinese Christians are being persecuted and Dean is putting his life on the line by doing missions work in China. Read his post "Beautiful Feet" How I Came to Hong Kong .
Jordan from the Acton Power Blog submitted Whither the Refugees? concerning the plight of Iraqi Christians.
Next we have Joy's entry from her blog Counting the Cost. Joy is asking What If It Was Me? A few words on the encouragement and inspiration I get from reading VOM's newsletter each month.
And our last entry for this week is from John who writes at Bible Truth Online a post called Christian Persecution in India. John writes, "On December 23, 2006, Hindu extremists burned down a church and disrupted services in several Indian states. They continued their harassment and arrested carol singers on Christmas Eve. "
Next week we shall resume the week end wrap up on Friday, and I hope to see you here!
