Persecution and the Juror

Since I just spent a whole day in a crowded room with about 1000 miserable looking people, I thought I'd share with you this conversation that I had with a juror who was sitting at a table reading her bible.

I had a feeling that there would be a few Christians waiting in the jury room to see whether or not they were picked for duty on a trial, and so as I walked through the packed hall I saw a woman sitting with her bible open to II John.  Thinking she was a Christian I decided to sit next to her and see if she would share the gospel with me.  Turns out she didn't, but she did tell me a lot of stuff about peace and God and actually also told me that I was a seeker and trying to find God.

I actually thought this was hilarious because I never said anything of the sort, and I assured her I knew God personally.  After that I asked her if she knew anything about the persecuted church or if she had followed any news on what's happening to saints all over the world.  She replied by telling me that she knew the church has been persecuted from the beginning of its existence, but that was it.

So I asked her if she was familiar with The Voice of the Martyrs, and she said no.  I wasn't surprised, and so then I told her about VOM and guess what happened...

Are you ready for this...

Yeah...

She didn't care.  She basically told me that being a Christian was all about finding "inner peace" and that the troubles of this world would be less.  She did correctly state however, that we would suffer.

But she didn't care about persecuted Christians all over the world.  In fact, it seemed to me that she was rather annoyed that I brought it up.

Which just gives me the resolve to continue to tell people more about what The Voice of Martyr's is doing.  Next time, I will have a magazine handy to give to her.

Which reminds me, if you haven't signed up for that yet, you can do that right there on the right side of the page.

And I have to ask, since I had this experience, have any of you ever tried to share about the persecuted church and been shot down or dismissed?  Comment below, I want to hear your stories.
