Jesus Has Risen...Really!

Earlier this week I had a very touching experience that I wanted to tell you all about.  In my  work as a counselor  I always have the Lord teach me things and this week it was a gentle reminder that there are still many many people who still do not know the truth about what Jesus did for us, and that they would be amazed if they did.

I was at the elementary school I volunteer at earlier this week and I was working with a 8 year old little boy.  During our play he mentioned Easter coming up on Sunday and how he was looking forward to the day.  I asked him if he knew what Easter was about and he told me that it was about Easter eggs, the Easter bunny and a fancy dinner.  Then he paused and also said that it was about some guy who kept coming back to life every three days.

I smiled and I asked him where he got his information and he told me his grandma had shared with him.  So I instantly knew that his grandmother knew the gospel because he said that she had brought him to her church.

So I said to this little guy, that I thought it was cool that he had heard about that guy who was raised from the dead every three days, but actually it was only one guy.  Then I told him that a man died for us and then three days later he rose from the dead.  And that he needed to talk to his grandma more about it.

But this was the cool thing...when I told him that one guy had died and then rose from the dead on the third day his face LIT up and he said, "REALLY?!!!"  and I said yes, "REALLY".  Then he smiled and said, that he knew about Jesus and how he died on the cross.

And yet what I got in this whole exchange was a look at childlike belief.  That got me thinking about the last time I got amazed at something God has done.  Since it's really very easy to take for granted all that He does do.

So this week and this coming Sunday I am praying for a renewed vision of the excitement of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.  Afterall, this is a TRUE story and the GREATEST STORY ever told and Jesus has indeed Risen from the Dead.....REALLY!
