BARTLESVILLE – On November 11, The Voice of the Martyrs will join Christians in more than 130 countries in prayer for the persecuted church.
VOM is participating in the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) and encourages Christians to pray for believers around the world, living under the threat of persecution. These believers risk discrimination, imprisonment, and even death because of their faith in Jesus Christ.
Todd Nettleton, Director of Media Development at The Voice of the Martyrs, said, “This is an important time for Christians around the world to follow the scriptural mandate to ‘Remember those in bonds…’ (Hebrews 13:3). Our hope is that this one special day of prayer will lead to many more days of prayer in the coming weeks and months.”
Christians are encouraged to pray for continued boldness and courage for believers as they share the gospel and for hearts to be softened to the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“The interesting thing is that our brothers and sisters who are suffering aren’t asking us to pray that their suffering will end,” said Nettleton, “but to pray that they will be faithful to Christ even in the midst of that suffering.”
