Florida Pastor Cancels Quran Burning

Screen shot 2010-09-09 at 3.49.18 PM Controversial Pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center has decided to cancel his plans to burn korans on the ninth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Terry Jones has made news for the last few weeks because of his controversial decision to burn Islam's holy book and it hasn't been without controversy.  Many today are thanking God for his decision today to call off the book burning.

In a statement from Mission Network News, we see concerns about the Muslims, "Mission Network News has already discussed the danger that burning the Quran will put Christians in, especially those living in predominantly Muslim nations. (Click here for the full story.) But another group is also at risk: Muslims.

Muslims may not endure physical trauma or harassment as Christians likely will if the church goes through with their plans to burn multiple copies of the Muslim holy book; they may, however, suffer spiritually."

According to Fox News, Pastor Terry Jones has said,"... the leader of a planned Islamic Center near Ground Zero has agreed to move its controversial location."  Other reports are saying that this is unsubstantitated and that the Islamic Center will continue to be built.

Meanwhile, another controversial church, the Westboro Baptist Church, known for picketing soldiers funerals and other things, has announced that they will burn qurans if Jones' church doesn't.
