Fasting for Jordan

A VOM worker in Jordan sent this email yesterday:

I am sending this letter requesting that anyone who is willing to fast [for “Rashid,” a new convert to Christianity] on Monday, July 1, please do.

Muslim WomanI told Rashid that believers … across the world [would be fasting for him], since we are the family and the body of Christ. This was an overwhelming thought for him.

Pray for Rashid as he is learning and growing in his faith. Pray for his family situation as his wife left him to live at her parents’ and is asking for a divorce. Rashid does not want this. Pray for more community for this brother. Also pray for the work here in the Middle East and all the brothers and sisters out there like Rashid.

Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often,[a] but Your disciples do not fast?”

And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. (Matthew 9:14-15)

Those days are here! Please join us Monday, July 1 in this fast!

Visit the blog on Monday, July 1 to read Rashid’s testimony so you can better pray for him on that day.
