Do Not Lose Heart in Doing Good
One of my favorite things is telling people about the persecuted church. It's really very interesting when I talk to people who are not Christians about the issue because they usually don't realize that religious people, (as they usually call them) are being killed for their religious belief system.
On the other hand, when I talk to Christians about the issue I often get the question - "Isn't it depressing to always be focusing on the persecution and not the uplifting things God is doing?" or "How do you deal with so much bad news?"
These are very legitimate questions because it can become overwhelming sometimes when you really put yourself in the situation with our brothers and sisters and also when you may have something heavy or overwhelming going on in your own life. Hearing about our loved ones in the faith who are hurting and being persecuted for simplying believing in Jesus, can be depressing. One reason why is because we all have within us a desire for justice, so when we see a situation where we are not seeing justice, it can be hard.
Which is why I always try to encourage people to remember the spiritual fruit and blessing that is being borne in those who are suffering for their faith. We can only see the physical harm being done in some cases, but the Lord knows the heart of those He tries with fire, and there is true beauty there.
So be encouraged because we are promised that if we do not lose heart in doing good, in due time we will reap, if we do not grow weary. (Gal. 6:9) Be encouraged today and do not grow weary because there are rewards galore if we don't.
