Christians on the Frontlines

This week I had the privilege of learning how God is moving and working in Colombia. I was struck by the boldness and resilience of believers who have committed themselves to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, no matter the cost. The Voice of the Martyrs has been involved in ministry in Colombia distributing books, radios and Bibles, but I was so impressed that VOM’s ministry reaches remote areas. The books He lived Among Us and Tortured for Christ are widely distributed. The ministry also hands out Christmas Care packs and Christians in the U.S. send Bibles through the Bibles Unbound program. This is exciting, especially after hearing reports there are churches of 200 people in remote areas that have only one Bible.

VOM is standing with pastors on the frontlines who are in areas where guerrilla organizations have pledged to kill each other. In the midst of danger and persecution, faithful pastors are choosing to remain in dangerous areas so they can share the gospel. They are grateful for the love and support that VOM is giving them and for the books, Bibles and radios that assist them in sharing the love of Christ. The testimonies coming from Colombia are incredible. I heard of Christians held at gunpoint whose lives were miraculously spared and who then courageously led those sent to kill them to Christ. Wow! God is doing a great work. I believe that what is happening in Colombia is a glimpse of the commitment of our brothers and sisters around the world who risk all to be in the frontlines sharing Jesus in hostile nations. I am challenged to pray and stand with them. Their courage inspires me to be all that God has called me to be.
