Bible School Closed in China and 36 Arrested

Chinaflag_2The Voice of the Martyr’s ministry partner, China Aid Association, reports that on March 1st at 10:00 a.m. Beijing time, 50 to 60 officers of China’s Public Security Bureau stormed and closed a house-church Bible school in Huaibei City, illegally arresting 36 and confiscating 10,000 Bibles, along with 200 new blankets.

Here's what happened in a nutshell.

First the PSB took the 36 students, teachers and church leaders captive.  Three  of those who were arrested were pastors -  Pastors Liu Haiting, Liang Zhenjun and Joseph Wang.

Did the PSB do this legally? NO!  They did not show any identification or search warrants while doing this, and they even videotaped the raid, despite the pastor's objection!

Pastor Chu, one of the arrested has also gone through this before.  This is his second arrest in three days, according to the China Aid Association.

The good news is that on the same day, March 1st, the 36 people that they arrested were released.  The bad news is that the 10,000 bibles that the CPS took was not given back, because it's being  considered by a political committee to determine if it's "illegal literature."

This is just another reason why we all need to get behind the new Bibles Unbound Program and send bibles to the regions in the world  that are in need of them. China is one such area, so if you haven't joined us in the Bibles Unbound program, please sign up today!
