A Vacation That Makes a Difference

Here in the VOM office we get literally thousands of letters from around the world.  This one came from one of our readers and was a great blessing and encouragement to us. I asked for Cindy's permission to share it with our blog readers, and she graciously agreed.
Dear Brothers and Sisters at VOM,
This morning I listened to yet another radio ministry promote a trip to Alaska complete with Christian entertainment, including a ventriloquist.  The thought came to me, as it has before upon hearing similar promotions, that one of the things I like about VOM is the lack of such things.  While others are going around the world on "vacation cruises" you folks are smuggling Bibles into dangerous areas around the world.  That, to me, would be a "vacation" worth going on.  While they talk of building our own faith through Bible teaching and praise and worship you folks are building the faith of others, many of whom know what true praise and worship is.  Who can't praise God while sitting in a warm, comfortable atmosphere with tummy's full of gourmet food?  How sad that Christians can justify such vacations when our brethren are in need of Bibles and the barest essentials of daily living.
I just wanted to share my thoughts with you and say "THANK YOU" for all you do and for giving us an opportunity to be a small part of the work.
Our vacation this year will be attending the VOM National Conference, Lord willing.  We have our conference materials and our reservations are made.  This will be our third conference.  What a blessing the last two were!
Many years ago I read a book telling about Aida Skripnikova.  I never forgot her, and wondered at times what had happened to her.  What a blessing to meet her in person (at the 2004 VOM Conference), hug her and tell her that I had prayed for her and love her in the Lord.  That meant more to me than meeting any celebrity or important person I can think of.  Thank you for making it possible through your ministering to the saints.
We pray without ceasing for the entire organization and everyone involved in every capacity.
Jude 24-25
In the love and hope of Christ Jesus our glorious Savior,
Cindy
