Todd Nettleton alerted me to this great article written by famous author and theologian John Piper. The article talks about how 200 years ago today, September 7, China received her first missionary.

Have I told all you lately how much I love receiving your email? If not, let me tell you tonight as I type this. I really appreciate it. I get so much encouraging email from some of you and you have no idea how much I appreciate it and we cherish it. That type of encouragement is what the Body of Christ is all about.

I would like to publicly thank Michelle Malkin, a wonderful journalist, for continuing to follow the story of the South Korean Christian Hostages. Read her latest post about the breaking news that two of the hostages have been freed.

Recently I was asked how I manage to blog about something as "depressing as Christian persecution" and all I could do was smile and say that it is an honor, a blessing and a challenge to do my best to represent my faithful brothers and sisters in the faith who are daily living for Christ, and knowing that to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

This morning as I thought about you who read this blog and also the many brothers and sisters we have worldwide who are suffering for their faith in Christ Jesus, I wanted to remind you of a passage of scripture that speaks to the church who is persecuted for Jesus.

Over the last few days I've still been thinking about the two hour movie Underground Reality Vietnam. As I was thinking about it today, something that really struck me was how it is always so easy for us to focus on the physical persecution of a believer, and yet the emotional persecution I think can be far worse.

In a nation with historically Christian roots, we often forget how revolutionary the teachings of Christ are. The biblical picture of marriage is radical. It is based on a self-sacrificial love and total dependence on God as the authority over both male and female. However, despite our Christian roots, 50 percent of all marriages in this country end in divorce. As Christians, we have a higher standard to aim for in keeping our marriages intact, but have you ever thought of marriage as evangelism?
