I have two friends who are missionaries in Turkey, and so when I read this news and also the horrific news from last week I always wonder if they are my friends. In this case, they aren't, but these stories have been bringing what my friends do closer to my heart. I admit, sometimes I forget the nation they chose to go to be witnesses in...well, what a wake up call these past few weeks have been.

Earlier this week Todd Nettleton appeared on Janet Parshall's America talking about the most recent stories in Christian persecution around the world. The following prayer request appeared in this weeks Persecution & Prayer Alert from VOM Canada. And I have to tell you that reading this request turned my stomach because of the trauma and horror this young girl has gone through, simply because of her faith in Jesus. I plea with you all to put Shaheena Masih, on your permanent prayer list. This young woman will have a lifetime of memories because of this evil incident and will have a long recovery. This morning WorldNetDaily is reporting that a Christian bookstore was bombed by a terrorist group called the Sword of Islam in the Gaza Strip.

This morning as I was going through all of my email I receive and noted this press release from The Liberty Counsel concerning the ACLU taking the Gideons International to court. The press release said this in part:

PAKISTAN - Five Christians have been charged with blasphemy under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws 295-A and 295-C, in Toba Tek Singh, Pakistan. According to The Voice of the Martyrs’ contact in Pakistan, “Daniel, an 11-year-old Christian boy, refused to play with his Muslim friends, resulting in them beating him. Daniel’s family confronted the Muslims who called the police and made a false report saying Daniel’s family had blasphemed the name of the Holy Prophet.”
