Zeal - From Persecutor to Preacher
Are you zealous? Is there anything in your life that you are passionate about and that you pursue with a vengence because you just can't help it? Well, if you are, then you are a person with zeal and a person who some may call zealous.
This morning as I was studying in Philippians 3, I read this verse - "as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; -Phil. 3:6a" Here we see Saint Paul talking about his credentials in the flesh and he describes himself before he had an encounter with the Living Christ. He was zealous about persecuting the church.
Does that remind you of anyone else today? It does me...how about the Communists, Hindus, Islam, and even the homosexuals who want the Church to approve of their sinful behavior.
The truth is that we are all zealous for something, and as followers of Christ, we need to be zealous for Jesus.
Paul became a preacher of righteousness after he had an encounter with the Living God. And so can those who zealously persecute the church today.
Join me in praying that those who persecute the church today would be zealous for Jesus instead.
