Underground Reality DVD Makes Impact on Youth
I love finding gems regarding how The Voice of the Martyrs is being used and how people are being impacted. Take this article written by By Barrett Vanlandingham for Muskogee Phoenix.com called Fort Faith: Freedom makes our responsibility more clear
I've been thinking a lot lately about missed opportunities for saving souls right here in Fort Gibson. Until I got older, I didn't realize what our prayer leaders in worship were talking about when they would say, “Thank you God for letting us openly worship you without fear of persecution.” I thought being harassed for your faith was a thing of the past no matter where in the world you lived. But I couldn't have been more mistaken. In fact, the Bible is still illegal in 52 countries around the world!
For the past few weeks I have been showing my ninth-10th grade Bible class a DVD from the Voice of Martyrs organization based in Bartlesville. It's a reality TV series involving eight teenagers who were invited to smuggle Bibles into Vietnam. During their trip, they spend time with teens from Vietnam who tell their stories of what it's like to be a Christian in Vietnam. They say that for about 10 years, it's been okay with the government to be a Christian (officially), but in reality, Christians still have to meet secretly since house churches are illegal and only a few church buildings have been allowed to open.
