Top 10 Ways Kids Have Helped the Persecuted Church in 2006
Are you a doer of the Word and not only a hearer? Well, I try my best to be and one of the coolest things we can do is also get our children involved. Which is why I'm thrilled to let you know how VOM's Kids of Courage program was used this year.
The Kids of Courage site has now listed the top 10 ways kids have helped the persecuted church. Among the top ten are the following ways that maybe you will find inspiring enough to do yourself.
#9- Hot Dogs for Scripture Balloons
I teach a class of 10- to 14-year-olds at our homeschool co-op in Oregon using VOM’s Bold Believers activity books. The kids in the class were so moved by what we learned about North Korea that they wanted to do something to help. So we partnered with a grocery store in our town and had a hot dog sale one Saturday. (The grocery store donated the hot dogs and buns.) We would like the money to be used for Scripture balloons for North Korea. God truly blessed our efforts and we are so excited to be able to pass the blessing to those in North Korea who are suffering for His sake.
#6- Blankets for Sudan and Prisoner Adoption
Our fifth grade class in California made Blankets of Love our class project this year. We are sending two boxes of blankets we collected to VOM for shipment to Christians in Sudan.
The class just finished writing letters to almost every person on www.prisoneralert.com. Each student had “adopted” two prisoners, and they are committed to praying for their prisoners every day.
#2- Parade Float
Our youth group in Pennsylvania has been learning about and praying for the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. We entered a float in our community parade to make others aware of the persecuted church. We won first place!
