There Is Hope for Those Who Persecute Christians
Earlier this morning I wrote a post all about how the Apostle Paul came to Christ and how amazing I thought that was because he was a zealous persecutor of Christians in the first century. And then, when I tried to save the post, Typepad lost it!
Well, here it is a few hours later and I'm glad Typepad lost what I wrote originally because it has given me more time to reflect upon how Saul became Paul and turned the world upside down for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Think about this for a minute. We know from the book of Galatians that Paul was a very zealous Jew who persecuted Christians because he honestly believed that they were not following the true God. There is a very obvious parallel with the Muslims and Hindu's and others in our world today. In fact, if you read this blog frequently, then you have read testimonies of Muslims who the Lord in His great mercy has revealed Himself today.
The Apostle Paul had a similar conversion. There he was minding his own business, doing his job to persecute Christians, when a Light surrounds him and says, "Saul, Saul why are you persecuting Me?" You can read the full story in Acts 9.
And to make a long story short, Paul receives the Lord Jesus and takes the gospel to the Gentile world.
This is amazing on so many levels. One of the ways I think this is amazing is that for those of you who doubt that God is real and that Jesus is God, the very fact that we have the Holy Bible today, is a miracle and a testament to Paul's salvation.
Also, Paul's conversion gives hope to any and everyone who may be persecuting Christians because they believe that Christians are false converts. Because if God can meet Saul in the Light and call Him to the divine role he had in history, then that same God, who is still Living and Active, can call anyone who sincerely is seeking after the Truth to Himself.
That is amazing grace, and millions upon millions throughout history can testify to that fact.
Jesus is indeed LORD of ALL.
