Please remember to be courteous and kind in your emails and faxes.  Here are a few other things you can do too.

The White House:

President Bush and his staff have been contacted by several friends but please continue to write and raise the subject of the crisis in Rajasthan.

The Congress:

You should go ahead and write your Senator and Congressional Representatives and ask them to write Indian authorities and the Indian Ambassador. Especially ask them to address the National Human Rights Commissioner (Justice Shri A.S. Anand) and ask him to urgently form onsite inspection teams to investigate the abuses of human rights by the government in Kota.

Business, Tourism, Church, and Hindu temple Contacts in the USA:

Many Hopegivers who travel or do business with India, Pakistan and other South Asian governments have powerful friends in high places or people who know people. Ask them to send letters to their contacts in India, particularly in the Hindu community will be helpful.

News Media, journalists and human rights agencies:

If you have friends in the news media, either here or in India, it is very important to shine the light of truth on the situation in Kota and throughout Rajasthan.

Once the local authorities know that they are being watched by the world, they will be more responsive to curb the radicals.

Don’t forget thoughtful “Letters to the Editor” and arranging media appearances for Hopegivers Communications spokesman such as Dr. Samuel Thomas, Bishop M.A. Thomas, and Dr. Bill Bray.

We will keep you updated on the developments in Congress and elsewhere as we hear about them, but in the meantime, please write as many letters as you can – and get other concerned friends to do the same thing.
