Life on the Edge Reaches New Heights

One of my coworkers here at VOM recently took a two-month trip to Pakistan. He went to help build a home in an area demolished by last October's earthquake. He and his team worked in Begaar, a village very near the epicenter of the earthquake.

While they were building the house in Begaar, the team encountered several dangerous situations in which the Lord continuously protected them. Since they were working in the lesser Himalayas, they were constantly around steep inclines. At one point, a team member was on the side of a mountain during a rock slide, and a large boulder broke into pieces just feet from his head. Footage of the road from Balakot to Begaar is enough to prove that God was watching out for this team!*

If we are following God wherever he calls us, we are eventually going to find ourselves “on the edge”. The edge might not literally be the side of a mountain, but it will definitely be something that is uncomfortable and potentially frightening. You might be called to witness to a coworker or a supervisor. You might be asked to give up the American dream and invest your life in missions work. Working at VOM, I’ve met several people who have followed God and lost a family member, ended up in prison or have been tortured.

If our perspective is in tune with eternity, then we are going to have the courage and strength to follow God wherever he calls us. Pray for ability to see past the temporal and live your life for a higher purpose.
