KENYA: Armed Mob Attacks Church

In our recent Be-A-Voice-Network prayer alert we sent out to our network, we shared some prayer requests and a praise report about the pastor of the church in Kenya.  Kenya is not considered a Restricted Nation yet, but many are watching the levels of persecution there.  Please pray for the protection of the saints in Kenya.  Here's part of the alert we sent out.

Screen shot 2012-09-13 at 3.42.13 PMArmed men attacked the Evangelical Victory Church of Game-Loitiki on the afternoon of July 7 and began tearing down the walls as the pastor, Joseph Lokuruku, watched helplessly from a distance. Pastor Lokuruku and the associate pastor sought help from local authorities but were told that no armed policemen were on duty.

A VOM contact said there is increasing concern about continued attacks on churches throughout the country. The Game-Loitiki church attack occurred only one week after militants killed 17 people at the African Inland Church of Garissa. Despite the attack on the Game-Loitiki church, Pastor Lokuruku continues to hold worship services on Sunday mornings.

The Somali-based militant group al-Shabab, which is thought to have ties to al-Qaida, is suspected in the church attacks.
