Is Being A Secret Christian Possible?

Today I came across this very interesting article that I wanted to share with you because it raised a few things in my mind.  The article is titled New Convert Wants to Stay and it's about a Muslim who became a Christian who does not want to go back to Cairo because if he does he will be persecuted for being a Christian.

However, he was denied asylum because the court believes he only became a Christian so he could claim being a refugee.  Maybe this is true, or maybe this Muslim had a true conversion to Christ.  Personally, I don't know.  However, what I find interesting about this is that this guy did not want to go back to Egypt because of persecution from Islam.

I also find it interesting that he would want to stay in Canada because Canada has also put strict rules on Christian freedom.  And if he was truly being a Christian in secret, well, now the secret is out of the bag!

What do you think of a person who says he is a convert to Christianity only to get asylum?  Is this right?  Is this the fruit of a true conversion to Christ, especially if he is living out his faith in secret?

What about his reason for not wanting to go back to a Muslim dominated country?
