Dinner Thoughts about Christian Persecution.

This evening was the men's night out for my small church of believers here on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The women in our church get together almost once a month at the church to have a night of great home made meals and deserts (it's the deserts that rock). While doing so they have a devotional and sharing time in the Lord.
We men ::grunt:: get together and go raid a restaurant somewhere and talk among ourselves and unwind.
Tonight we went to a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant where I had a delicious curry and chicken soup. We talked, laughed, and shared things about what's going on in our lives
And we bowed our heads and prayed openly.
My thoughts about both the meals kind of made me sit back and go, "Wow!" Which spurred me to this post.
I took for granted the ability of we men to go meet in a very public restaurant where we prayed openly in the center room surrounded by other customers. Had we been in, say... North Korea, would we even have risked being seen together in public? I don't think so.
The women of our church for one thing, wouldn't have had a "Church Facility" to meet together in and they wouldn't be able to do so openly had they been in North Korea or a place like Eritrea. I wonder if any of them took for granted their ability to meet for learning, prayer, and praise to God Almighty? Probably a few of them in the least.
It is a wonderful privilege to be in a country where, for now, there is not a lot of fear of persecution for naming the Name above all names.
But it should give us all pause as we bow our heads and take the time to pray for those who are faced with persecution for being Christians.
