Christian Informer Faces Deportation
The Herald Sun has a very interesting article today called Informer faces deportation. I find this article interesting because it's about a Whistleblower named Leonard Peter who helped break up some "people smuggling rings".
Leonard Peter is from Pakistan and is currently being held in Australia. I find this comment interesting...
But the 40-year-old asylum-seeker said from Baxter detention centre yesterday that he would rather stay in detention for the rest of his life than be returned to Pakistan.
Peter knows he will die in Pakistan if he is forced to go back. The article goes on to say,
Mr Peter, a Christian, said he faced certain danger from religious extremists if he was sent back to Pakistan.
He said a fatwa (death sentence) had been issued against him because he converted to Islam to win back his estranged wife, then reverted to Christianity after his attempted reconciliation failed.
His wife's Muslim family had been opposed to their marriage and took her and their three children away from him with the help of two of her brothers, who were high-ranking local police.
What I find interesting is his ability to convert back and forth from two very different religions. Apparently, in the end, he decided to remain faithful to Christ and is now afraid of losing his life for that cause. He has also lost his children and wife, as a result of this decision. He needs our prayers for God's intervention. Please pray.
