Bible Verses Remain True, Even If the Devil Quotes Them
Yesterday as I was reading through my email I came across this great quote in my Extreme Devotion email and it really struck me. It struck me so much because recently I purchased a very cool new audio drama bible and I kept hearing part of the audio drama from Matthew 4 where Jesus is tempted by Satan.
Here's the quote - “Bible verses remain true, even if the devil quotes them.”
Think about that for a minute and really let it sink in. Okay, now that you've done that let me tell you how this relates to the persecuted church.
Apparently in countries where the bible is forbidden or mocked, some governments will actually print verses of scripture to mock Christians. However, the Christians get the last laugh because they realize that the words of God, as written in the Holy Scriptures are true - even if others don't think so and mock them.
It reminds me of the times my mom would read letters I sent to her where I was sharing the gospel. She was so antagonistic at the time and she did what she could to "make me look bad" by reading my letters filled with Scripture and the gospel presentation to her friends. However, it always made me laugh because I knew the Word of God NEVER returns void.
So let me encourage you by reminding you that when Scriptures are shared, regardless of the context, God will have His way.
Oh, and in the end my mother came to faith in Christ, and now she is with Him. And I find that something to smile about.
