Are Muslims Persecuted in the Sick Bed?

Before I get into some news stories of interest today, I wanted to thank those of you who commented for your comments and also continuing readership. I will do my best to respond soon to the individual comments directed at me.

Sickbed And now for an interesting article from a website in Germany called Cultural Misunderstanding at the Sick Bed .  This article is very interesting because it addresses an issue that is common to many religions and/or people of various religions, around the world.  This particular article focuses on the Muslim faith and how doctors need to address the religious beliefs of those they are serving.

One sentence really stood out to me in this article because I just thought it was interesting.  Here's the sentence - "Hamideh Ünal, psychotherapist at the Center for Victims of Torture in Cologne, described a situation in which a translator at the bedside became a great difficulty for both doctors and patient."

Do you see what jumps out?

Give up yet?

Okay, here's what jumped out at me.  It's the part that says, "Center for Victims of Torture".  The reason this jumps out to me is because I write about persecution and obviously when someone is being tortured they are being persecuted.  So I thought it was interesting that they would quote a doctor from the Center for Victims of Torture.  The implication is that Muslims are being tortured, and not treated well in the hospitals and that is due to their religious rituals.

What do you think?  Do you think hospitals everywhere should cater to a persons religious rituals or if they don't is it a form of persecution?
