Give a Bible for Christmas

I've been thinking a lot about how much more we are blessed when we give, than when we receive, and as Christmas is upon us, I wanted to ask you a question - how many of you have ever received a bible as a gift?  How many of you have ever given a bible to someone as a gift? 

Well, if you're like me, then you've done both and yet are you aware that there are many people, all over the world, who are praying for  a bible of their very own?  Some of these believers have prayed for years, and even decades!

Which is why I want to ask you to join me and thousands of others, in joining The Voice of the Martyrs Bibles Unbound ministry.  This is one of the most special ministries of VOM because we are able to get bibles into places others can't.

Sowing Seeds In Good Soil - Bibles Unbound Testimonies

Here at VOM we get many testimonies from Bibles Unbound mailers. Because these stories inspire and encourage us with their faithfulness, we have to share them. Recently, Katherine Norder shared how mailing New Testaments to restricted countries around the world has blessed and enriched her life.

“I consider it such a great privilege to be involved in the Bibles Unbound program,” Katherine wrote. “I am blessed to live in a country that is free, [where I can] be a believer and love the Lord and openly express this without fear of persecution. I can only praise the Lord for such a great ministry and for letting me be a part of it. Thank you, and may another million Bibles be sent. I am disabled and cannot drive, so someone takes me to the post office to mail the Bibles.

“What a great way to be involved with missions. Thank you again, and may God continue to bless your mission,” Katherine wrote. 

Praise God, Katherine is a great example of the many faithful Bibles Unbound participants mailing God’s Word into restricted nations. Thanks to Katherine and people like you, we have been able to get more than 1 million New Testaments to people in countries like North Korea, China and Colombia!

We are grateful to faithful believers like Katherine in the United States who are receiving New Testaments monthly, praying over them and sending the word of God to people who have never heard it before. These are seeds sown in good soil, and God has promised a harvest. We are also thankful for our brothers and sisters inside restricted nations who gather names and addresses of people who need to read God’s Word.

Support a Bibles Unbound Covert Operation

Hey, if you're like me, then you love doing things undercover...as a spy...in the shadows...unnoticed and covert.  (I'm sort of kidding)  However, if you would like to be part of a top secret covert action that The Voice of the Martyrs is doing, then you are in luck because today I want you to know that Bibles Unbound is now doing Covert Operations in lands far away.  Here's a little information for you.

What is a Covert Operation?
A covert operation provides New Testaments into closed or hostile areas where mailing Bibles is not possible. The Bibles are delivered by very courageous believers who know the dangers associated with evangelizing these regions. They personally carry Bibles in and distribute them at great risk. Who are the Christian ‘evangelists’ partnering with you to carry New Testaments into difficult places? Some are former communists, Muslims, Hindus or terrorists who used to oppose Christians. Others are Christians who have experienced persecution and understand the risks. All are committed believers in whom God has placed an extra measure of compassion and courage.

In a covert operation you WILL NOT receive names of recipients or Bibles to mail. You WILL receive a name representing the person(s) responsible for the Bible deliveries so you can regularly pray for them, as they take the Good News of Christ into these difficult areas. You WILL be able to watch the Bibles-sponsored count and know when your covert operation is complete. After your operation is completed, you will receive an up-dated report on the success of the operation by e-mail. A cross will appear on your personal Mission Map, signifying the country where the covert operation is taking place. No other details can be provided in order to ensure the safety of the program and those delivering the Bibles.

Giving Out Free Bibles in America Is Not As Easy As You May Think

Today I wanted to share with you some observations I have from this morning when I went out with a friend on a bible distribution.

Let me back up and explain how this came about in the first place. A few years ago my husband joined The Gideons International and became a Gideon, because he thought it would be cool to hand out bibles at schools. I thought that was cool, and eventually I also joined with my husband and over the past few years have grown a passion for giving out the Word of God to anyone who will take it from me.

Enter what the women do with the Gideons. Whereas the men get to go to schools, and hotels to hand out bibles, the women get to go to medical offices, hospitals and domestic violence shelters. So this morning I went out with an older lady in her 70's and we visited some of the local medical offices here in my area.

I was excited about the opportunity to go into each office and offer a bible for the waiting room, and also a personal New Testament to each medical person working in the offices, but to be honest, it can be intimidating...and a little bit scary. Because there is always the possibility of rejection.

Which brings me back to what happened this morning. I am happy to report that we had more people say yes to the bibles, than no. However, those who said no, really said NO. They were adamant about not having the bible in the waiting room at all.

I was also told on more than one occasion that they weren't allowed to take the bible, or that they had a bible we gave them before, but it was in the cabinet where no one had access to it. (Nice huh!)

Well, that got me thinking as I walked away from those offices, how sad it is that there are people all over the world in persecuted nations who are praying and pleading with God for a bible, and yet here in America, we are offering the bible in abundance for free and it's being rejected...by some.

There was one point this morning where I wanted to share with a lady who was very adamant with her "no" about what people in persecuted nations go through, for even wanting a bible, or having one, if they are fortunate enough to have one.

But I wasn't allowed to because I was told to remember that when people reject the Word of God, they are rejecting God, not me.

All that to say, it isn't as easy to hand out the Word of God in America as you may think. Yet, we do know that the Word never returns void and it will accomplish what the Lord has ordained for it.

Which brings me to a gentle reminder to all of you who have not yet joined Bibles Unbound yet. VOM’s Bibles Unbound Program Expanding

In case you have not visited VOM’s Bibles Unbound Web site recently, I wanted to highlight the new Covert Operations. A covert operation provides a unique opportunity to provide New Testaments into closed or hostile areas where mailing Bibles is not possible. This is a great addition to Bibles Unbound. In these dangerous, hostile or closed areas, Bibles are delivered by believers who are aware of the challenges of getting the Word of God into these areas. Praise God there are faithful, courageous believers willing to risk all in order to ensure Bibles get into the hands of those who desire them.

Covert Operations differ from how “regular” Bibles Unbound operations function. The difference is when you sponsor a covert operation you do not receive the names of the recipients or Bibles to mail. Instead, you receive the name representing the person(s) who is responsible for delivering the Bibles into the hostile or closed areas, so you can pray for them as they deliver Bibles into these areas. What I found very exciting was once you sponsor a covert operation, you can watch a Bible-sponsored count online and know when your covert operation is complete. You will also receive e-mail updates and reports on the success of your operation. Wow! It is exciting knowing that by sponsoring Bibles, you are providing God’s life-changing Word to people who would not have it. What an eternal investment!
