One of the things I've noticed about the people at my church who I try to talk about Christian persecution, is that they get uncomfortable, they sometimes walk away, some say they pray, but really most are completely ignorant of what is really happening to Christians worldwide, which is why on my Facebook page I have started to daily post about Christians I know are being persecuted by name.
In fact, just this morning I posted about Gao because as I was reading The Drudge Report's coverage of China's President Hu Jintao, and his forthcoming speech about China and American relations, I wanted my friends to know that Chinese Christians are under severe persecution, which is way under reported.
In case you are visiting here for the first time, let me tell you a little bit about Gao Zhisheng. Awhile back The Voice of the Martyrs and China Aid together started a campaign to help Free Gao because he's been missing by force now for well over 700 days.
Christian human rights attorney Gao Zhisheng was seized by a dozen police officers from his apartment on February 4, 2009. He disappeared for more than a year at the hands of the Chinese Government, leading to grave speculation about his whereabouts and condition.
Gao Zhisheng has been repeatedly kidnapped, arrested, imprisoned and tortured by Chinese authorities for defending the persecuted. He has been an unyielding and iconic advocate for justice in the Chinese courts and has been nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize (2008 and 2010). Read more about Gao here.
A related story on Gao was also posted at The State. Please go there and read more about Gao and please keep him and his family on your prayer lists.
