"When I was a child, my life was an open book. I always lived in a glass bowl." That's what Michael (Mihai) Wurmbrand, son of Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, said in a conversation at VOM. It seems that everyone in Romania had heard of Pastor Wurmbrand, who later founded The Voice of the Martyrs.
In 2006, five years after his death, Romanians voted Pastor Wurmbrand fifth in a ranking of top Romanian personalities of all time. Only three historical kings and a poet were above him in the rankings. Olympic gymnast Nadia Comanici appeared lower on the list.
Yet many Romanians still ask, "Who is Richard Wurmbrand?" The TV contest informed them.
A few weeks ago, a VOM worker presented materials at a Christian conference in the northern U.S. and found people asking the same question, "Who is Richard Wurmbrand?" The worker was pleased to introduce Pastor Wurmbrand's life and legacy to new generations of American Christians through VOM books Tortured for Christ and for kids 9 to 13, Imprisoned for Christ.
You can purchase each of these books at VOM's online bookstore for about the cost of three greeting cards. And the message of the books will bless the recipients long after their birthday or other special day. Michael would not mind if his family's life again became an "open book."
