Of late, it seems I have been hearing stories of increased persecution in Africa. What always strikes me about the many testimonies I come across is that believers facing immense challenges and pressure, remain faithful in their faith in Jesus Christ. Despite stringent laws that restrict their religious rights, believers stand courageous and continue sharing their faith. A few weeks ago, I heard another great testimony of Christians in North Africa experiencing growth and revival, despite laws restricting Christian evangelism. Contacts from this area reiterated the faithfulness of these persecuted Christians standing for their faith while risking imprisonment, discrimination and death.
I have never heard courageous believers in restricted nations ask that we pray for persecution to stop. On the contrary, I have heard them ask us to pray that God be glorified in the midst of the persecution. In my opinion, that is having an eternal perspective and realizing that whatever we face here on earth is ultimately not about us, but about our representation of Christ. To me the many persecuted Christians around the world are a great example of boldness, courage and God’s faithfulness. I encourage you to pray God encourages them to remain bold and courageous. Also, pray that the Holy Spirit would touch the lives of the persecutors and draw them into the full knowledge of Jesus.
