It is incredible how unless you are involved with people actively ministering to persecuted believers around the world, you may have no idea that this year’s International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is November 11, 2007. I had never heard of IDOP until I got in contact with The Voice of the Martyrs. I believe it is imperative for us to get as many people as possible praying year-round for our brothers and sisters around the world, and I believe November 11, will be a great day to invite others to join in prayer for these courageous believers.
Sometimes when I hear reports of what persecuted believers are going through, a sense of helplessness comes over me, because I think there is nothing I can do to ease their suffering. It took me some time to realize that there is something I can do about it, and that is pray. In my opinion, our prayers are important, and I know persecuted Christians around the world covet the prayers. I encourage you to get involved with IDOP this year. Recruit friends and family to regularly pray for persecuted believers. VOM has put together resource kits that are available for purchase at www.persecution.com/idop
