The Voice of the Martyrs media room is reporting that on May 14th, at northern India’s Gauri Nadi village in Madhya Pradesh, Anant Jeevan Marg church was ransacked by 50 members of the militant Hindu organization, Dharam Jagran Sena (Army for Religious Revival).
Compass Direct reports that after stoning the independent church, the mob entered the Sunday service, destroying furniture and equipment as they screamed anti-Christian slogans.
During the rampage, a 35-year-old new believer, Dinanath Tiwari, was beaten and hospitalized for injuries to his face, hands and knee. He was attacked for converting to Christianity after his wife was healed of cancer as a result of prayer.
They also accused the church’s pastor and congregation of illegally converting Hindus by handing out Bibles, which they confiscated as evidence.
Roughing up Pastor Munnu Kujur, the mob threatened to douse his face with acid and bomb his church for continued conversions. The extremists then drove him to the Barela police station, where he was immediately arrested for forcibly converting Hindus.
After local Christians drove to the station to sign a bail bond and an attorney from the Christian Legal Association of India, Sub-Inspector Vaishnav, called asking for evidence, the pastor was released at 7:00 p.m. The complaint filed against him was still under review at the time of this May 15th report.
Tiwari and other church members filed a counter-complaint, naming four of the fifty attackers―Kedar Namdev, Indra Bhan, Sudhir Agarwal and Yogesh Agarwal.
Join us in praying for the conversions of those who are wrongfully attacking these Christians for their beliefs. Thank the Lord for His awesome healing power, and for the boldness and witness these Christians are. May His name continually be praised!
