Recently Pope Benedict XVI has been in the news supporting not only Asia Bibi, but also other persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.

The following is from Catholic Culture.org

Pope Benedict XVI affirmed his support for persecuted Christians, especially in Iraq, during his Angelus audience on November 21.

Noting that the bishops of Italy had called for special prayers that day for the Church in Iraq, the Pontiff said: “I wish to join this choral appeal to the God of life and peace.”
