Many of us take for granted free speech in the West. However, some troubling legislation has recently touched many free nations including England, Canada and Australia which has threatened to limit that right and awakened citizens to the need for action. Christian World News recently conducted an interview with an Australian pastor who was adversely affected by such legislation. Click below to watch this report on Australian Pastor Danny Nalliah.

At the end of the clip, Pastor Nalliah discussed H.R.254, the hate-crimes bill that has been introduced in Congress. What are your opinions on this bill? How do you feel it would negatively or positively affect speech in this country?

Thanks for posting this. It is a disturbing bill they are proposing. But doesn't the Bible indicate that as time goes on, no matter how much we fight for free speech now, Christians will have to be willing to endure more and more persecution for the stands they take?

Perhaps our gentle yet firm stand under trial will draw others to Jesus. But to prepare for that day, maybe we would have more moral authority stored up, and more people would listen to us, if we prayed about and addressed the problems of those who call themselves Christians, yet present their case in such a hateful way that no hearts are changed for the better, such as picketing funerals.

Free speech is one issue; how we are using our current freedom to influence others for the Kingdom is another. Converted people will not persecute us in the future. The more we bring into the kingdom now, the fewer to persecute later.
