A Christian martyr is a person who is persecuted, even to the point of death, for their faith in Christ and a refusal to renounce that faith. A Muslim/Islamic martyr is a person, who in the name of Allah, takes his own life in the process of making Christian and Jewish martyrs.

Wow, I never thought about this before. I just looked up the word marytr in the dictionary and the word can be used for both...how sad. Here is what it says:# One who chooses to suffer death rather than renounce religious principles.
# One who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a belief, cause, or principle.

It is always best to consider what GOD'S SON says on any subject.
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of ME. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
Matt 5:11-12
"Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah ..."
Luke 50:50-51
It can be concluded that Christian marytrs are in fact fellow labours, in an ancient struggle for the redemption of man,
with all the prophets of GOD.

Christian and Jewish martyrs lay down their lives via persecution and in peace to save lives.
Islamic martyrs take other lives in war.

The distinction could not be greater. For example, suicide bombers (the most common form of Islamist "martyrdom" today) give their lives to kill others; martyrs die to give others life. Suicide bombers cannot b
called martyrs in any true sense of the word, as martyrs are recipients of their fate; they are killed by others. Martyrdom is something that happens to those who seek to pursue the purposes of God. It is not something that they instigate. Suicide bombers, on the other hand, are inherently proactive in seeking their own death in order to advance their cause.
