Persecuted Christians Come to America

I love stories like this because it offers hope to those who are being persecuted from other countries. Here are a few quotes about why this Russian family moved to America.
- Dina Zastavskiy can finally worship God without fear of persecution.
- For some, moving to America was an escape. For others, it was an opportunity.
-Living in America has permitted him and his wife, Yelena, a Ukrainian immigrant, to worship without fear of persecution.
-"It's a little difficult to understand Christianity here because of all the freedom in the country," Zastavskiy said. "Sure, the freedom is nice, but for Christians it's a little bit too much."
-Zastavskiy thinks it will be harder for her children to develop the depth of faith she cultivated in the face of persecution.
This wonderful article also shares the pain of the persecution these immigrants endured in their countries. Click on over and read the article in its entirety here.

I have often, since learning of VOM, thought the same thing this woman is concerned about. Without the fire, Gold cannot be purified. It seems that in the US, freedom itself is the fire so to speak. To retain a deep, enduring faith without having to struggle is a different kind of challenge. I'm not sure it's a good thing.

Sometimes we Christians in the West have it too good, maybe to our spiritual detriment.
Thank you for a thought provoking post!
