Pity the Poor Persecuted Christians

This afternoon as I was reading some news that others have blogged about concerning Christian persecution, I found this interesting post that I would love to get your feedback on.

What I find interesting is that there are different views on this subject, and even though Voice of the Martyrs mostly focuses on worldwide Christian persecution, this specific post addresses how Fox News is promoting the idea of Christian persecution in America. This might be one reason why Total Truth is a good book to read.

Pity the Poor Persecuted Christians was posted by Judy over at a blog called News Hounds.  Judy writes the following,

According to Fox News, there's freedom of religion in this country, but no freedom from religion. You're gonna get religion -- the Christian one, that is -- whether you like it or not because Christians are free to cram it down your throat, even at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The scandal of evangelical Christians forcing their religious views onto other cadets at the Air Force Academy is, of course, being spun by Fox News into "persecution" of Christians.

The latest attempt was by John Gibson on "The Big Story" on Wednesday (June 1). Gibson interviewed Jay Sekulow, from the American Center for Law and Justice (high-sounding name for a group started by Pat Robertson that is only interested in protecting Christian churches), and John L. Peterson from the Interfaith Alliance. The issue was an e-mail sent by a cadet to all 3,000 undergraduates at the academy containing Christian views.  You may read the rest here.

The other interesting thing are some of the comments left by the readers of Judy.  For example, Glenn Becker wrote, " On the subway this morning, there was a woman testifying in an EXTREMELY LOUD, Jamaican-accented voice about how we all needed to turn our lives over to "JEEzoss." I want to not hate Christians, but it's hard sometimes."

Which is exactly the point.  Christians are hated all over the world.  And yes, even in America.

Crystal goes on to comment, "It surprises me that when the majority forces their beliefs on the minority and when the minority get tired of the crap they're being fed, the majority is the one who cry out persecution and the press falls into this trap. Oh, the poor persecuted christians who can't help but to persecute everybody else."

My response to Crystal would be, show me where Christians are persecuting everybody else the way Christians are being persecuted all over the world. I would definitely love to see the stats, the video, the news pieces and the dead bodies of all those Christians who have killed in the name of Jesus.

Talk!
